OVERVIEW

In partnership with the Lee County Department of Human & Veteran Services and Florida’s State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) program, Lee County Housing Development Corporation received approximately $1,025,025 in funding to meet unmet disaster recovery related needs to eligible households, specifically low and very low-income households with residences in Lee County, FL. SHIP Disaster funding for the following services will be available until December 31, 2024 depending upon funding availability. SHIP DISASTER REHAB/HOME REPAIR

Rehabilitation funding will be used to provide emergency repairs for low, and very low-income eligible households. Households are able to apply for rehab assistance not to exceed $65,000 or update single family structures to comply with current building and safety codes. LCHDC will utilize funding under this program to repair, improve, or modernize dwellings, remove health or safety hazards from cost burdened households.

Rehab Activities include but not limited to the following:

  • Roof replacements
  • Installing or repairing well and septic systems
  • Replacing failing or inefficient healing systems and water heaters
  • Replacing windows and doors
  • Replacing deteriorated siding or porches
  • Repairing foundations or providing structural stability
  • Providing handicap accessibility
  • Plumbing and electrical repairs or upgrades
  • Lead -based paint testing and remediation heating and insulation, plumbing, structural concerns, lead, asbestos, or mold remediation.

SHIP DISASTER MORTGAGE ASSISTANCE

SHIP funding will be used to provide Mortgage Default Financial assistance (direct payments to mortgage lenders/servicers) for cost burdened households impacted by Hurricane IAN. Under this project, LCHDC anticipates assisting ten households at all income levels (very-low, low, and moderate). Qualifying households will be able to apply for assistance to assist household in bringing their mortgages current and/or to prevent further delinquency.

SHIP DISASTER RENTALASSISTANCE

SHIP funding will be used to make direct payments to landlords/property management companies) for cost burdened tenant households impacted by Hurricane IAN. Qualifying households will be able to apply for assistance in bringing their rent current to avoid eviction.
